The pictures look great as usual! Studio looks really nice too. Good job on getting it set up. It looks great!

How do you usually do a photoshoot? When I had my senior portraits done, I went up to a lady in Asheville and she had me bring music I liked to listen to and what a difference it made in my experience there! I was just curious if you did anything like that or had thought about it. It really helped me to feel more at ease. I always thought it would be cool to do back when I wanted to have my own studio.

Thanks Amber... I do like the idea of having the client bring their own music. Senior and couples portraits I try to do outdoors if the weather is nice. My lighting equipment is portable, and I much prefer the dynamic atmosphere.

Hopefully people will start calling soon. It has been slow. You would think an entire session and print package for $99 would be somewhat enticing...?

Yeah I agree with the outdoor shots, you seem to be able to make them work really well. Did you learn all the photography stuff hands on or did you take a few classes?

That is a really good price lol hopefully people will start calling soon. If I had the extra cash I would be interested in it. Hang in there :goodjob

How are you advertising, beyond word of mouth? Minimum, a decent 1/8th page yellowpages ad generates revenue, or at least it does for fix and repair work. I was on the ground floor of a small shop starting out in the late 90's and the first four months were death but by the 7 month mark it was sustainable.

I'll second Joseph's motion. I also have first hand experience with Yelllow pages ads and they are quite succesful. Even when its less than an eighth a page you WILL get business from this.

I have received very little work from the asheville book for my video production business which has been listed since 2005.

It is a bit upsetting, being that I currently spend $90mo with that stupid book (includes yellowpages.com advertising)

Anyway. It is possible photography is different. I will be taking out a small ad in yellowbook . We'll see what happens there.

Thanks all.

Thanks,

I actually went to Isothermal for broadcasting... but am self taught in photography. Although the video background helps with the technical aspect, the creative side of things can be a challenge, and is really something you cannot learn from an instructor in a classroom.

Junior works across the road from my work, I see his car parked there all the time. Didn't know it was still his or not, small world.

JD, :hold

I'm noticing newborn baby photography is where people seem to go crazy. It doesn't take much to convince parents they need these pictures..
Anyway, we shot these at Biltmore Sunday:
